Drawing Biennial 2026 is the place to discover what’s happening in drawing right now. Featuring over 300 works by artists at the forefront of contemporary practice, this exhibition reaffirms drawing as a fundamental and enduring discipline. It is also an important fundraising auction that offers a great opportunity to acquire drawings by renowned artists working internationally, while providing vital support that helps keep Drawing Room open and accessible to all.
For the occasion, Gioscia chose to show a part of her practice which is fundamental to the construction of her textile works yet quite hidden. ‘Dream Robe 2’ sketch is part of a series of drawings that are part of the genesis of wearable artworks, just as a fashion designer would have preparatory maquettes for their garments. The front and back sketches include samples of the textiles used in the life-size robes, as well as the threads and any relevant notes.
The Dream Robes are magic gowns that help Gioscia recall her dreams. ‘Dream Robe 2’ was created for her solo show Arturo and the Vertical Sea from 2021 at Baert Gallery, in which she explored the bond with Cat Arturo, with whom she lives. They sometimes nap together, holding paws, and communicate telepathically whilst falling asleep. Dream Robe 2 contains Arturo’s hair, lovingly combed and collected.
