The Drunken Boat takes its title from Le Bateau ivre (The Drunken Boat), written in 1871 by Arthur Rimbaud, who together with fellow poet Paul Verlaine, lived on Royal College Street in 1873. The exhibition brings together twenty-three artists, many of whom have shaped our programme since we opened at 2 Blackall Street three years ago.
This exhibition marks a significant moment for Haricot Gallery. Moving into a larger and more ambitious space, The Drunken Boat represents both a reflection on three years of programming and a confident step forward — a chance to bring together the artists who have been central to what we do, and to show their work on a scale that has not been possible before.
