Ludovica Gioscia

Ludovica Gioscia's is in Rome's new art fair Arte in Nuvola 2022

Ludovica Gioscia's latest textile performance 'Tramonto Onirico' was part of the special projects for the second edition of Rome's new art fair. Arte in Nuvola 2022.
curated by Valentina Ciarallo.

'Tramonto Onirico' was conceived in dialoque with the organic and spectacular architecture of La Nuvola by architect Massimiliano Fuksas in Rome. Seeing herself as a casting director who decides which textiles enter into which performance, Gioscia's cast continues to grow as the series of works evolve and new series are born.

For "Tramonto Onirico', the artist calls on performers who have a link to the dream world, so that together they create a dreamy landscape. Nested inside Fuksas's Cloud Gioscia interpreted the play as an oneiric sunset.

For example, Portal 10 from 2017 depicts a recollection of a dream in which Gioscia painted an abstract canvas which glowed and hovered, containing everything all at once. Universal Feeling from 2022 instead features an inverted watercolour. The latter looks like a sunset and is the result of telepathical exchanges with the artist's cat Arturo. Gioscia holds his paw as they fall asleep together and sometimes she receives images from him, like flashes of colour.

Gioscia will be presenting her third solo show with the gallery in January 2023 'Follicle Symphony' in which the artist explores the layers of experiences and relations the body undergoes during pregnancy.
